TSUSports.com: Baseball’s Season Comes To A Close With Loss To Bethune Cookman In SWAC Tournament

The Texas Southern University baseball team season has come to an end as they fell 16-0 to Bethune Cookman in the 2024 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Tournament at Russ Chandler Stadium on Friday morning.

Under the direction of head coach Michael Robertson and assistant coaches, Ricky Urbano, Charles Guillary, and Jalen Brown, the Tigers were named the SWAC West Champions as they finished the season going 23-25 Overall, 18-6 SWAC. Additionally, CJ Castillo was named to the 2024 All-SWAC First Team for his stellar season he sits in the top 10 of the conference with a .408 batting average while ranking second for on base percentage (0.566). Castillo has scored 39 runs on 42 hits with eight doubles and four homers.

The Texas Southern baseball program will say goodbye to 15 seniors, including, CJ Castillo, Jordan Vidato, Chase Cromer, Noah Butler, Justin Barnes, Josiah Castro, Tyler Williams, Dade Hensley, Domenic Martinez, Adolf Castillo, Victor Molina, Carlos Marquez, Nasir Frederick, Mike Goudeau, and Brody Wilson.

Dr. Kevin Granger, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics, the TSU Baseball Coaching Staff, and the Athletic Staff would like to thank these young men for their selfless contributions and the job they have done in continuing the tradition of the TSU baseball program!
