History
Corpus Christi, Texas — The Texas Southern Lady Tigers earned their first result of the season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Texas A&M–Corpus Christi at Dugan Soccer Stadium. A late goal from freshman Kamara Bradley salvaged the tie in a match filled with intensity and momentum swings.
After a scoreless first half, the Islanders broke through in the 56th minute when Mai-Lisa Atis converted a penalty kick following a foul in the box. The Lady Tigers nearly responded minutes later with a penalty kick of their own, but Melissa Knutson's attempt was denied by Islanders goalkeeper Hayven Harrison, who finished with four saves.
Texas Southern continued to press, outshooting the Islanders 8-5 in the second half and earning four corner kicks. Their persistence paid off in the 87th minute when Bradley found the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Savannah Muldrew, marking Bradley's first collegiate goal.
Goalkeepers Alessandra Bastidas and Alicia Audu split time in net, combining for six saves. Bastidas held the Islanders scoreless in the first half with three key stops, while Audu made three saves in the second half to keep TSU within striking distance.
The Lady Tigers finished with 13 shots, five on target, and six fouls. Cailan Gatlin, Emeyda Cruz, and Liliane Clase Baez were active offensively, each contributing multiple shot attempts. Defensively, TSU held strong against 16 shots from the Islanders and limited their second-half chances.
Texas Southern will look to build on this performance as they return home for their first home game of the season on Sunday, hosting Tarleton State at 1 p.m.
