• Texas Southern closes out the 2024 season on the road against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Simmons Bank Stadium on Saturday.

• Saturday's contest will be shown live on HBCUGO with live audio on KTSU 90.9 FM.

• Mathematically out of the SWAC race and the chance for a winning season unable to happen, TSU turns its attention to finishing strong as they posted a winning season at home.

• TSU has not won consecutive games to close out the season since 1979. TSU has not won a season finale since 2000 as they defeated Norfolk State 17-12.

• TSU will face UAPB for only the fourth time since 2019. UAPB is one of three teams in the SWAC that TSU has a winning record against all-time (Mississippi Valley State/Prairie View A&M).

• UAPB was picked fifth in the preseason poll. The Golden Lions have the third-ranked passing offense in the SWAC as Mekhi Hagens is the No. 2 passer with 222.5 yards per game. Wide receiver JaVonnie Gibson leads the way as the SWAC's top wideout with 66 receptions, eight touchdowns and is the league's lone 1,000-yard receiver (1,160 yards).

• TSU had six players earn preseason All-SWAC honors as linebacker Jacob Williams earned first team honors while defensive end Michael Akins, offensive lineman Mehdi Torrence, linebacker Isaiah Bogerty, quarterback Jace Wilson and defensive back Javius Williams earned second team honors.

• TSU was picked to finish sixth in the SWAC West. The Tigers have to replace all-time leading rusher LaDarius Owens at running back as they return five starters on offense and eight on defense.

• A win would give TSU a five-win season as it would mark the first time since 2022 TSU has won five games.

• TSU currently ranks seventh overall in total defense in the SWAC (361.8) but has struggled offensively as they rank 12th with 253.3 yards per game.

Cris Dishman is the 18th head coach in the history of Texas Southern Football. Dishman inherits a tough task as the program has only had 28 winning seasons in 77 years of existence and hasn't recorded a winning season since 2000.
