History

The Lady Tigers continued their impressive streak at home against Bethune-Cookman, securing a 64-57 victory. Boasting a 10-0 SWAC record, the only undeafeated team in the conference. Despite battling fatigue after returning from UAPB Tuesday night, the Lady Tigers took control early in the first quarter. Aaliyah Henderson scored 5 points in the first 3 minutes, and Loudermill hit a momentum-changing 3-pointer. Treasure Thompson's block and steal combo led to a fast break by Fantroy, putting the Lady Tigers up 21-14 by the end of the quarter.

Bethune-Cookman picked up the pace in the second quarter, tying the game at 23-23 and then taking the lead. However, Aaliyah Henderson tied the game again at 30-30 just before halftime. Texas Southern's defense was strong, with key rebounds from Treasure Thompson and Daeja Holmes. Aylasia Fantroy's 3-pointer and Aaliyah Henderson's free throws helped Texas Southern maintain their lead. Despite Bethune-Cookman's efforts, including significant plays by Asianae Nicholson, Texas Southern held a slight edge going into the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was action-packed, with Bethune-Cookman making a strong push early on. Texas Southern responded with solid defense and key rebounds, particularly from Treasure Thompson, who finished with 9 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 6 points. Jaida Belton's crucial free throws and Daeja Holmes' big 3-pointer extended Texas Southern's lead. The dynamic duo of Aylasia Fantroy, 13 points and 2 steals and Aaliyah Henderson, who contributed 15 points and 3 assists, continued to dominate. Daeja Holmes and Jaida Belton chipped in with 7 points and 6 points, respectively, securing the win for the Lady Tigers.

Aylasia Fantroy commented, "I think it was a build-up of fatigue from playing these games back-to-back. They were pushing the ball down the floor quickly and we weren't ready for it, but we adjusted."

"I'm a competitor, so when the calls weren't going our way, I was just like, 'Come on, next stop, next play.' Me and Lay, we work together, that's my girl, and we feed off each other," said Henderson.

The Lady Tigers are back in action at home on Saturday against Florida A&M at 3 pm.
