The Texas Southern men's track & field team posted six first-place finishes at the annual 73rd TSU Relays this past weekend inside Durley Stadium.

Jalen Walker won both the hammer (187-5) and shot put (51-4.25) as the hammer marked a personal-best and a school-record he set himself last season. Ahmad Muhammad placed first in the triple jump (47-8) while Babacar Diop placed first in the long jump (21-2).

In the relays, TSU posted first-place marks in the both the mile (3:14.67) and 4x100-meter relays (40.69).

The teams also had several top-three marks as Christian Jones finished third in the 100 (11.16) while Chaunzavia Lewis placed second (22.54) in the 200. David Livingston (4:12.75) and Gael Flores (4:27.38) finished 2-5 in the 1,500 while Donyea Jarmon (15.25) and Chaunkiveon Lewis (15.26) went 3-4 in the 110-meter hurdles. Hilton Smith (58.04) and Reggie Durden (59.07) placed 4-5 in the 400-meter hurdles.

Malachi Byrd (20-1.5 feet) placed third in the long jump while Braylon Carr (47-6.25) and Diop (42-2) placed 2-3 in the triple jump. Swazi Gurnell (125-1) finished third in the discus while Trevon Hill (168-6), Blaine Nunn (160-9), Jaden Brooks (156-9) and Gurnell (128-0) went 2-3-4-5 in the hammer. Ian Charles (13-11.75) jumped to placed second in the pole vault.

TSU is back in action at the Kirk Baptiste Invitational at the University of Houston on Thursday.
