BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Texas Southern men's track & field won its second consecutive SWAC Indoor Championship with a thrilling finish at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Between last year's trifecta of winning men's cross country, indoor/outdoor titles, and the 2024 men's cross country championship, TSU has now won five consecutive titles under head coach emeritus Clyde Duncan, Sr. Duncan, Sr. also won his fifth straight SWAC Coach of the Year honor.

"This is a result of hard work and preparation by our coaching staff and student-athletes," said Duncan, Sr. "Everyone who participated today had a hand in this championship and we needed all of them to dig deep to persevere. I'm so proud of our team and their efforts in helping to make history at TSU."

Every point would matter as Texas Southern used a solid start on Saturday to build an 11-point lead with 51 total points.

Adam Hines walked away with the pole vault championship after a mark of 15 feet. Ian Charles also picked up points with a fourth-place finish of 13-6.25 feet. TSU finished 1-2 in the shot put as Trevon Hill (53-6.5) and Blaine Nunn (53-3) led the way while Jalen Walker (51-7.75) placed fifth as they earned a total of 22 points.

TSU earned 11 points in the 3,000 as Brandon Adolphus, David Livingston, and Jeremiah Barrera placed fourth, fifth, and seventh, respectively. TSU also placed sixth (Barrera, Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington, Bruce Price, Adolphus) in the distance medley with a time of 10:42.62.

Unlike last year, in which TSU ran away with the title after the first day, Sunday's championship finale went down to the wire.

Jalen Walker set a personal-best throw of 61-3 to win the weight throw while Trevon Hill placed fourth after a mark of 54-3.75. Blane Nunn's throw of 50-1.75 feet was good for eighth.

Braylon Carr picked the perfect day for a personal record in the triple jump as he placed fourth with a mark of 50-5.25 feet. Ahmad Muhammad finished sixth with a length of 49-5 feet.
Malachi Byrd (4,743) earned a hard-fought third-place finish in the heptathlon while Jaylan Johnson finished eighth (3,972). Chaunzavia Lewis earned a spot on the podium as he placed third in the 60 after a time of 6.84. Brandon Adolphus placed eighth (4:29.85) in the mile run.

Tied at 81-all with UAPB late in the meet, the team needed a big push, and they received it from its distance team as David Livingston (15:45.86), Adolphus (15:48.95) and Manuel Garza (16:03.77) went 5-6-7 and earned critical points in the 5,000. TSU's mile relay team of Noah Brooks, Kaseem Ibraheem-Washington, Michael Strange, Jr., and Donell Carter finished seventh with a time of 3:14.58.
