Ahmad Muhammad finished second in the triple jump as the Texas Southern men's track & field team had 11 top-10 marks following their 2025 season opener at the Leonard Hilton Invitational on Friday.
Donyea Jarmon had a strong weekend as he finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles after a personal best and the SWAC's second-best run of 8.07. Brandon Adolphus finished seventh overall and ranks fourth in the SWAC after a run of 4:27.29 in the mile. Adolphus also ranks third in the SWAC after a time of 9:14.74 in the 3,000.
Tyree Newman jumped 21-11.5 feet en route to a ninth-place finish in the long jump while Trevon Hill finished eighth in the shot put and posted the second-best mark in the SWAC after a throw of 49-9.75. Blaine Nunn followed with a ninth-place throw of 49-0.75 in the same event. Jalen Walker (55-11.75), Nunn (55-6.25) and Hill (51-8.5) logged the SWAC's second, third and fifth-best marks in the weight throw.
TSU had strong performances in the triple jump as Ahmad Muhammad finished second with a mark of 48-6.75 feet as it marked a personal best the third-best mark in the SWAC. Braylon Carr also had a strong TSU debut as he jumped 47-5.25 to finish fourth in the triple jump as it marked the league's fourth-best jump.
Jalen Walker (55-11.75), Nunn (55-6.25) and Hill (51-8.5) finished sixth, seventh and ninth in the weight throw while the men's mile relay placed third after running 3:14.26.
TSU is back in action on Friday at the Samford Invitational in Birmingham, Ala.
