Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored twice in the first half and held on to the lead in a 2-0 win over Texas Southern on Thursday night inside Durley Stadium.
Texas Southern had early opportunities to set the tone with shots from Victoria Pucci, Isabella Dillow, Alyssa Taylor and Kaia Butler. However, the Islanders struck first with an early goal in the 30th minute and closed out the half as they pushed up the field and scored in the 43rd minute for a 2-0 margin.
The Tigers continued to stay aggressive to open the second half as they had several chances to get back into the game but couldn't put the ball into the net despite solid looks. Dillow, Pucci and Butler all had two shot attempts while Alicia Adu had eight saves in the goal.
