COMMERCE, Texas - TSU softball wrapped up day two of the East Texas A&M Leadoff with a contrast of games.

SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 9, TSU 1

With two outs in the first and runners on first and third, SDSU singled home a run to lead 1-0 and drew a walk to load the bases. SDSU moved ahead 4-0 with a three-RBI double. TSU had runners on first and second with one out in the second but a fielder's choice and grounder ended the potential rally.

DaNia Durr's RBI double in the third scored Karisma Garcia to cut the deficit to 4-1 but the momentum was short-lived as SDSU answered with three runs in the bottom frame. They would add two more in the fourth for the final margin.

Kyle Wilson finished 2-for3 while Penelope Saenz, Durr and Marisa Perla all had hits. Melonie Guardiola took the loss for TSU on the mound.

The Lions tacked on a run in the fifth to lead 2-0 but TSU answered in the sixth as DaNia Durr's RBI double scored Amerie Martin.

The Lions scored twice in the sixth to move head 4-1 but TSU rallied to move ahead in the seventh as Destiny Menchaca led off with a double followed by Marisa Perla's single. Pinch hitter Kiersten Salinas doubled home two runs to trail 4-3 which forced a pitching change.
