History
Texas Southern fought hard in a closely contested game against Jackson State but ultimately fell short with a final score of 3-7.
TSU struck early, scoring 3 runs in the 2nd inning. J. Herrera lll walked, D. Garcia's sacrifice bunt advanced him to second, and J. Flores walked, setting the stage for E. Joubert's double to left field, which brought in two RBIs. K. Phillips' bunt reached on an error by the pitcher, allowing Joubert to score an unearned run. Despite their efforts, JSU responded with a run in the same inning and added another run in the 3rd. JSU took the lead with 3 runs in the 5th inning, thanks to a three-run homer by J. Eichelberger.
JSU continued their momentum, scoring 2 more runs in the 6th inning. A. Brown walked and stole second base, followed by Alvarez being hit by a pitch and advancing to second on a wild pitch, scoring alongside A. Brown. Despite TSU's efforts to respond, they could not score further runs and were held scoreless in the remaining innings. Texas Southern's resilience and effort were evident throughout the game, but Jackson State capitalized on key opportunities, leading to TSU's 3-7 defeat. Nonetheless, TSU's defensive plays and brief offensive bursts showed promise for future matchups.
