MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The bottom of the lineup helped Texas Southern capture a 4-3 victory over Alabama State Hornets on Sunday. Elijah Rodriguez, Jonathan Trejo, and Evan Joubert combined for four of the team's seven hits in the victory, scoring one run and driving in three.

Texas Southern didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at three in the top of the ninth when Trejo singled, scoring one run.

Alabama State Hornets opened the scoring in the bottom of the second thanks to two doubles. Alabama State Hornets first got on the board when Kyler McIntosh doubled, scoring one run.

Joubert doubled on a full count, which helped Texas Southern tie the game at two in the top of the fourth.

Alabama State Hornets took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Kameron Douglas singled, scoring one run, to give Alabama State Hornets the edge, 3-2.

Jaden Flores grounded out, which helped Texas Southern tie the game at three in the top of the sixth.

Aaron Moore earned the win for Texas Southern. The right-handed pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking none. Kryin Long took the loss for Alabama State Hornets. The reliever went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering one run on two hits, striking out none and walking none. Kewan Braziel led things off on the bump for Texas Southern. The starter surrendered nine hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking two. Will Bartkoski led things off on the bump for Alabama State Hornets. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three. Issac Garcia collected the save. Kam Walton appeared in relief for Texas Southern.

Joubert led Texas Southern with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The left fielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Trejo and Joubert each collected two hits for Texas Southern. Texas Southern turned four double plays in the game.

Alabama State Hornets tallied 10 hits in the game. Number seven hitter, McIntosh, showed the depth of Alabama State Hornets's lineup by leading them with three hits in three at bats. Douglas, DeMarckus Smiley, and McIntosh each drove in one run for Alabama State Hornets. Isaiah Landry collected two hits for Alabama State Hornets in five at bats. Alabama State Hornets turned one double play in the game.
