Montgomery, Ala. - Despite leading by as many as four runs, Texas Southern fell to Alabama State Hornets 10-7 on Friday. Texas Southern collected 14 hits and Alabama State Hornets had 12 in the high-scoring affair.

Texas Southern opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles. Texas Southern first got on the board when Jaden Jones singled, scoring one run. Texas Southern added one run in the second. Damian Garcia singled to center field, making the score 3-0.

Alabama State Hornets flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the eighth, scoring seven runs on six hits to take the lead, 10-7. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Kyler McIntosh on the sixth pitch of the at-bat that drove in two.

Calvin McClendon started the game for Texas Southern. The pitcher allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking three. Jorhan LaBoy opened the game for Alabama State Hornets. The starter gave up nine hits and five runs over four innings, striking out six and walking two.

Texas Southern collected 14 hits in the game. Evan Joubert, the number seven hitter for Texas Southern, led the way with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Tyler Legendre, Garcia, Daylon Carlton, Jonathan Trejo, Jaden Flores, and Joubert each collected two hits for Texas Southern. Texas Southern turned one double play in the game.

Alabama State Hornets tallied 12 hits in the game. Kameron Douglas, Juan Cruz, McIntosh, and Parmentier each collected two hits for Alabama State Hornets. Cruz and McIntosh each drove in two runs for Alabama State Hornets.

The Tigers will be looking to bounce back in Game 2 of the series against the Hornets on Saturday at 6 PM.
