SPOKANE, Wash. – Texas Southern dropped its 2025-26 season opener by a 98-43 margin at Gonzaga on Monday night.
TSU opened with a 7-2 lead but the Zags scored six straight to claim an 8-7 margin. Cameron Patterson's three-point play moved TSU ahead 10-8 but GU moved back ahead 11-10 at the 13:35 mark after a trey. TSU would hang with the No. 21 Zags over the next seven minutes as they trailed 26-22 but the Zags closed the half out on an 18-5 run to lead 46-27.
Shots were hard to come by in the second half for the Tigers with only five field goals made and none from beyond the arc. The Zags were red hot from the field as they shot 64.7 percent in the second half to fuel their offensive surge.
Jaylen Wysinger and Duane Posey led Texas Southern with eight points apiece. Kolby Granger grabbed four rebounds while Wysinger added three assists.
TSU is back in action on Thursday at Texas A&M in College Station. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at Reed Arena.
