TSU wrapped up its homestand with a 3-0 loss to Florida A&M on Sunday evening.
As expected, both teams were close as TSU overcame a 14-13 deficit as two kills from Kourtni Collier sparked a 4-0 run and a 17-14 lead. FAMU answered with two straight points but Collier and Gracie Hill had kills along with a block by Hill and Taryn Stafford which gave TSU a 20-16 margin. FAMU fought back with a 7-3 surge to knot it at 23-all but TSU had a chance to close out the set as Lauren Battle's kill gave them a 24-23 margin. However, FAMU forced sudden death with a block but TSU had two opportunities to win the set but FAMU would counter with kills before closing out the set with a 28-26 win.
Set two saw both teams tied at 15-all but a 6-1 run by the Rattlers gave them a 21-16 margin. TSU fought back within 22-20 after kills from Collier, Keldri Young and Battle but FAMU scored the final three points, including back-to-back blocks to close out set two 25-20.
FAMU led 5-0 to start set three but TSU fought back and moved ahead 8-6. FAMU went back up 11-9 but TSU jumped ahead 13-12 after Battle's kill. Unfortunately, FAMU countered with a 10-0 run and never looked back as they won the match and set by a 25-15 score.
Collier had 10 kills for TSU followed by eight from Hill. Stafford had two blocks while Ava Ray had 12 assists and 15 digs from Angelika Rusin.
TSU hosts Alabama State on Sunday at 3 p.m. inside the H&PE Arena.
