The TSU volleyball team is back in action this weekend as they’ll head to the state of Arizona for the Wildcat Classic hosted by the University of Arizona.
This weekend’s trip allows four TSU student-athletes to play close to home as the team has one member (Kyira Porch) from the state and three others (Janiya Chapman (California), Danielle Lilley (California), Dallas Balanay-Flores (Nevada) who are from one state over.
TSU kicks off tourney play at 2:30 p.m. (CST) Friday against San Diego State followed by a contest against UC Riverside at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, TSU closes out tournament play against Arizona at 3:30 p.m. All games will be streamed live on the Pac-12 online network as live stat links will be available through TSUSports.com.
Even though TSU is on a seven-game slide, the team has been in the thick of its matches and has been working on fine-tuning the little things needed to close out matches. TSU has two members (Thalia Cordero Moreno and Danielle Lilley) amongst the top six performers in kills in SWAC play in addition to both ranking 3-4 in points scored. Kaitlyn Scroggins also ranks top 10 in digs per set.
