LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Texas Southern volleyball closed out play at the Borderland Invitational on Saturday as they fell 3-0 to Abilene Christian.

ACU led 8-5 and added four straight to lead 12-5 before pushing the lead to 16-8. TSU battled back as two kills from Gracie Hill sparked a 4-0 run as they trailed 16-12. ACU countered with a 6-2 run to lead 22-14 as they closed out the set with a 25-18 win.

Down 10-6 in set two, TSU regrouped and made it a game as they forced two ties at 13 and 15-all. Tied at 15, ACU scored three straight to lead 18-15 but TSU closed the gap to 19-18 aided by kills from Kenndi Walker and Hill. However, ACU outscored TSU 6-1 from that point to win set two 25-19.

TSU claimed an early 7-3 lead but ACU went on a 7-1 run to move ahead 10-8. TSU would tie it at 10-all but ACU reclaimed a 15-11 margin. TSU closed the gap to three points on two occasions from that point but the Wildcats pulled away to win the set and match 25-19.

Hill led TSU with seven kills followed by five kills from Gracie Lee and Morgynne McQueen. McQueen led TSU with four blocks while Kennedi Walker had 10 assists along with nine from Ava Ray. Angelika Rusin and Lauren Battle both had seven dogs defensively.

TSU is back in action Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Huston-Tillotson for a home match-up inside the H&PE Arena.
