ITTA BENA, Miss. - Texas Southern remained undefeated in SWAC play after a dominant 80-54 win over Mississippi Valley State University Thursday night.

Ahead 14-10 in the first quarter, Daeja Holmes' three-pointer gave TSU a seven-point cushion and the defense would do the rest as they held MVSU scoreless the reminder of the quarter while Holmes added another basket for an early 20-10 first quarter lead. Reigning SWAC Newcomer of the Week Treasure Thompson took over to open the second quarter as she scored nine points during an 11-0 run to lead 31-10 but the Delta Devils would counter with a 10-1 run to cut the deficit to 32-20. TSU held on enough as they didn't allow a field goal by MVSU after the run en route to a 37-20 halftime lead.

MVSU would draw within 12 once again early in the third quarter but TSU would rise to the occasion once again as Jaida Belton arrived on the scene with six points over the next 6:17 to spark a 15-8 run as TSU led 56-39 at the end of the quarter. TSU would continue its dominance as the fourth quarter came to a close as they led by as much as 27.

This win gives the Lady Tigers a 3-0 start in conference play as it marks the first time since 2020 the team has won three straight SWAC games to open the conference season. The last time Texas Southern had a 4-0 start in SWAC conference play was during the 2016-2017 season as they set out to achieve the feat Saturday at Arkansas-Pine Bluff beginning at 12 p.m.

Courtlyn Loudermill led TSU with 18 points while Thompson had a double-double with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Deivejon Harris grabbed 12 rebounds with eight points followed by 11 points from Belton.
