WESTON, Fla. – The Texas Southern women's golf team is in fourth place at the end of day 1 of the Arcis HBCU Collegiate Golf Championship hosted by Arcis Golf on Sunday.

Graduate student Kennedi Lee leads the way for the Tigers as she is tied for fifth place individually on a 10-over par. Lee carded a four-over-par opening round of 76 and is currently six over with three holes to play. Junior Azul Amezcua is four strokes back and tied for 13th place. Amezcua posted a three-over-par 75 opening round that included five birdies, six pars, six bogeys, and a double. Sophomores Phaith Harris posted a 78 and Shawnise Gregory posted a 79 in their opening rounds, respectively.

The Arcis HBCU Collegiate Golf Championship takes place at The Club at Weston Hills and was scheduled to be a 54-hole tournament. However, day one was shortened to just under 36 holes due to inclement weather. As a result, the Arcis HBCU Collegiate Golf Championship will be shortened to 45 holes of play and completed on Monday.

The players will complete their second round Monday at 8:00 a.m. and then have a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. to conclude the final nine holes of the tournament.
