WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Texas Southern women's golf team returns to action this week for postseason play at the PGA Works Collegiate Championship.The PGA Works Collegiate Championship will be hosted at The Park. The division will have six competing teams, including Alabama State University, Chicago State University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and Texas Southern. The tournament format includes 54 holes over three days, with the first round beginning on Monday at 7:30 a.m. The Golf Channel's Live Broadcast will be Monday, May 4 - Wednesday, May 6 (4:00 pm - 7:00 pm ET)
TSU returns to action for the forst tiem since the 2-26 SWAC Championship. The Tigers posted a three-day total of 961 (323 – 327 – 311) to finish in second place.
Freshman Carmen Pate was the top-scoring Tiger and finished in 4th place individually on 234 (80 – 80 - 74). Pate's two-over-par final round consisted of four birdies, nine pars, and four bogies or more. She also secured the Freshman Low Medalist honors for her performance. Senior Azul Amezcua (81 – 86 – 73) and junior Thaiz Amezcua (79 – 80 - 82) tied in 10th place on 241. Junior Shawnise Gregory finished strokes back on 245 (83 – 81 – 81).
