WESTON, Fla. – The Texas Southern women's golf team posted a 45-hole total of 793 (308 – 325 – 160) to finish tied for third place at the end of the Arcis HBCU Golf Championship hosted by Arcis Golf on Monday.
Graduate student, Kennedi Lee was the top scorer for the Tigers as she finished tied for fifth individually after shooting a 194 (76 – 78 – 40). Junior Azul Amezcua finished four strokes back and tied for 13th place individually with her 198 (75 – 84 – 39) total. Sophomores Shawnise Gregory finished tied 21st on 203 (79 – 82 – 42) and Phaith Harris was one stroke back in 204 (78 – 87 – 39)
The Arcis HBCU Collegiate Golf Championship took place at The Club at Weston Hills and was scheduled to be a 54-hole tournament. However, day one was shortened to just under 36 holes due to inclement weather. As a result, the Arcis HBCU Collegiate Golf Championship was shortened to 45 holes of play and completed on Monday. The players completed their second round Monday at 8:00 a.m. and then had a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. to conclude the final nine holes of the tournament.
The Tigers return to action this weekend as they gear up to compete in the ACU West Texas Classic in Abilene, Texas.
