History
ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Texas Southern baseball team clicked on all cylinders at Mississippi Valley State as they scored 45 runs to sweep a three-game series.
TSU 13, MVSU 0 (7)
Calvin McClendon had a memorable homecoming with a four-hit shutout as TSU won game one 13-0.

TSU took an early 3-0 lead after three innings and that was all the offense it needed as McClendon, who pitched at MVSU two years ago and is a Mississippi native, kept the Delta Devils in check. TSU broke the game open in the fourth after a six-run burst aided by RBI doubles from Elijah Rodriguez and Jason Lazo. TSU tacked on two runs in the fifth and two in the seventh to run-rule MVSU.

McClendon struck out four while Bryce Hughes and Elijah Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

TSU 13, MVSU 2
Kewan Braziel struck out eight as four players had two or more hits in a 13-2 win in the second game of a doubleheader.

Elijah Rodriguez led the game off with a single and scored on Jaden Jones' single. Jonathan Trejo's RBI double scored Jones for a 2-0 first inning lead. An error scored Rodriguez in the second for a 3-0 lead while Damian Garcia homered in the third to lead 4-0.

MVSU chipped away and was within 4-3 to open the seventh but Garcia's and Kelton Phillips' back-to-back homers upped the lead to 7-3. Rodriguez and Bryce Hughes would cross home for a 9-3 score to end the inning.

Phillips' second homer of the evening moved the lead to 11-3 while Jaden Flores added an RBI double in the ninth for a 12-3 margin.

Garcia finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored while Rodriguez, Jones and Phillips had two hits. Garcia, Jones and Phillips also had three RBI. Braziel struck out eight in six innings of action for the win.

TSU 20, MVSU 7
TSU worked the plate with 13 hits and 12 walks in a 20-7 finale on Friday.

Ahead 2-0 entering the fourth, TSU scored six runs in the inning to move ahead 8-0 and added a run in the fifth for a 9-0 margin. MVSU plated five runs in the fifth to climb within 9-5 but TSU scored 11 runs over the final three innings to pull away.

Bryce Hughes finished 3-for-5 with five runs scored and two RBI and two walks. Kelton Phillips was 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI and two walks while Jaden Jones and Damian Garcia had two hits and combined for five RBI.

James Malone earned the win on the mound as he struck out two.

TSU is back in action Tuesday at UTRGV at 6:30 p.m. in Edinburg, Texas.
