Alyvia Brown ran a personal-best 4K time and placed fourth overall while McKenna Duty finished 10th as the TSU women's cross country team placed second at the Rice Invitational on Friday evening.
Brown, who set a personal-best time in the season opener at UIW two weeks ago, picked up where she left off with a run of 14:23 (3:36K) for a fourth-place finish. Duty followed with a 10th-place run of 15:20.2 while freshman Katherine Canchola placed 13th after a mark of 15:34.2. Fellow freshman Stacy Guerrero ran a time of 16:08.6 to place 16th, followed by Jessica Williams (16:47.2), Dakota Gaston (18:58.7) and Ruby Rangel (21:50.2)

The team is back in action Oct. 4 at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
