CARY, N.C. – The Texas Southern men's golf team posted a 54-hole total of 880 (296 – 290 - 294) to place fourth overall at the SAS Championship HBCU Invitational hosted by the PGA Tour Champions on Sunday.

Freshman Javier Vazquez posted a five-over-par 215 (76 – 69 – 70) to finish tied in 5th place individually. Vazquez's even-par final round of 70 included three birdies, 13 pars, and two bogeys or worse. He also posted the team's low round for the tournament with his one-under-par 69 in round two.

Sophomore Ricardo Pham had a solid performance and finished tied 9th with his seven-over-par 217 (72 – 72 – 73) total. Pham held together a great round after a tough start with birdies and six pars. Junior Bradley Lavinier posted a 222 (71 – 74 – 77), while sophomore Yashal Shah was six strokes back on 228 (79 – 75 – 74). Senior Ravepon Kosalutta finished on 234 (77 – 79 – 78).

The SAS Championship, a PGA Tour Champions event in its 25th year in 2025, in collaboration with the PGA Tour and the Black College Golf Coaches Association, created the HBCU Invitational in 2022. The tournament is the first event of its kind to have student-athletes from HBCU schools compete at the same time and location as the pros from the PGA TOUR Champions. ined in 2024."2024 saw the addition of honorariums being donated to the winning schools, with $10,000 donated to each of the winning teams in the Men's Division I, Men's Division II, and Women's Division flights.

The Tigers are back in action Oct. 19-21 when they compete in the LaTour Intercollegiate hosted by Nicholls State University at the LaTour Golf Club.
