The Texas Southern Men's Golf team is in 13th place after shooting a 620 (310 – 310) through the first 36 holes of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic hosted by Rice University on Monday.
The Bayou City Collegiate Classic field includes Rice, Houston, Houston Christian, Abilene Christian, UTGRV, Lamar, UT Arlington, Louisiana Monroe, Utah Valley, Valpo, Louisiana, Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, and Incarnate Word. Individuals from Rice, Houston, and LSU are also participating.
Sophomore Yashal Shal leads the way for the Tigers on five-over 149 (72 – 77). Shah's even-par opening round included four birdies, 10 pars, and 4 bogeys, while his second round included an eagle and three birdies. Freshman Javier Vazquez is four strokes back on 153 (75 – 78) while junior Bradley Lavinier carded a 158 (80 – 78). Sophomore Ricardo Pham finished five-over-par in his second round.
The Tigers' final round of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Westwood Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
