EJ Alanis hit two home runs and drove in five runs as Texas Southern defeated Huston-Tillotson Rams 16-1 on Tuesday at MacGregor Park. Alanis homered in the first and fifth innings.
Texas Southern took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning with Alanis hitting a grand slam to right field, followed by Daylon Carlton's double that scored another run.

Huston-Tillotson scored one run in the top of the second inning on Christian Medina's solo home run to left field. Texas Southern extended their lead in the bottom of the second inning with Damian Garcia's two-run home run to left field after a six-pitch at-bat.

n the bottom of the third inning, Texas Southern added more runs with Kelton Phillips' double and Garcia's single down the left field line, each scoring two runs.

Alanis also hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Josh Prieto earned the win for Texas Southern, surrendering three hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Jonathan Ovalle started for Huston-Tillotson, giving up three hits and five runs (four earned) over one inning, with no strikeouts and three walks. Jace Maynard and Kam Walton also had strong relief performances for Texas Southern on the mound.

Texas Southern collected 11 hits in the game, with Phillips, Garcia, Carlton, and Alanis each contributing two hits. Bryce Hughes stole two bases, and Texas Southern played error-free defense, with Elijah Rodriguez making four solid plays.

Due to weather, TSU has to alter its weekend schedule at Alcorn State with a single game Thursday and a Friday doubleheader.
